Updates on the board
since too many people are on the site slowing it down, stop registration for new users. that will stop more 2010 dweebs from signing up and speed up the board. everyone wins.
Ben and I discussed a sub-board for new users. It will be like the minor leagues of Bridge9. Non-idiots can get called up after 90 days on a sub board. It will limit the dweebs and re-registering after getting banned. The downside will be no fake posters for good situations, but given that there haven't been any good fake posters in awhile, it won't matter much.
Also, will deleting inactive posters help?

The reply box should appear in all pages right now, a PHP recompile has been run and the 503 errors should be less frequent.
I'm still working on it, so comments like "This board runs like a piece of shit now" are not helping unless you write what exactly is not working. Also, if it's something already addressed please refrain from re-post it unless you add something useful to it.

I haven't had any long loading periods today and yesterday. It is loading properly and fast for me on Sidekick mode.

I think I got banned for no reason. I haven't posted in a couple days and I haven't posted anything incendiary in any way, but I tried to log in today and it said I was banned. If you could let me know why I got banned, that would be great.

The board has been running much smoother across a few different computers for me, but I am logged out after short periods of inactivity on my main computers. I'll try deleting my cookies first

The new system to clean the database will leave threads with more than 500 replies active for a month with no replies instead of 10 days like regular posts.
Also, messages older than 60 days will also be automatically deleted to clean the database, so be aware of this from now on.
This will be starting on Wednesday, so if you have anything pending related to old messages, it's time to fix that.

some characters on this board are showing up as question marks on firefox but not ie6.
also, can you make it so we can link our avatars from a url (like imageshack, photobucket, ect) so we can bypass the 40k size limit?

This is actually something that I fixed last week, messages were appearing 2 or more times, it's not that you can't delete them, it's they are duplicated.
By the way, this shouldn't happen with more recent messages, and giving few weeks to the system to clean up the old messages it will be back to work normally.
Bring the old mod panel back. PLEASE.

Can you please give me an example of the question marks problem?
Also, the thing using external avatars is that it is hard to control the size of them, this might cause problems in the layout and in the pages as people were uploading >1Mb images so it slows down the pages. I'm working on a solution on this to prevent people to upload oversize images.

With the adding of the Facebook and Twitter icons (and probably adding MySpace, Flick-r and so on later) the icons needed to be changed to a new squared format.
Obviously, instead of saying "I don't like them" I'd appreciate suggestions on what style could be better for them in the board, if either are too bright, colored and so on. This is the stuff that helps out.

they are too bright, just seems like I have signatures turned back on, and everyones signature is a static smiley.
they're also extremely tiny, which doesn't help distinguish them from each other.
did you design the new icons or are they from some sort of pack?

What error are you getting?
Also you need to have a photographer name set in order to update your profile (you cannot leave the field empty).
